Secret to Happiness

These days I am looking for a trigger, no, its not a gun. I am looking for a trigger to write. This blog needs to be revamped. Have I not been writing all this while? Well, I have been, though it was more towards the personal side. Hence, I did not really bother to publish it here. Did not think it was worth mentioning. Coming back to the trigger, I have been wanting to write in this blog and publish a post for the past few days. Right now, it is a post that I was going through. In fact, on a daily basis, given the fact that I am sitting in front of the computer close to 30-40% of my day, I ready a plethora of articles. But some strike a cord. Maybe I will take an effort to actually pen down my thoughts when I stumble upon something. After all, sharing is caring.

A lot of things have changed in my personal and professional life over the past few years. In terms of the view of issues, dealing with them and so on. Not going to delve too much into this at this stage. The entrance into the prestigious IIMs in India includes a written test called WAT. While I wrote a WAT and passed it to an evaluator, the feedback I got was that my essays are too verbose. It certainly had an impact on me, and my sentences are less complex these days. I promptly go for a full stop after I have typed in a few words. Does practice actually make you perfect? Well maybe it does. Even though this is the case, I believe that God (as I believe in the existence of God) has bestowed a certain amount of skill in every person. There may be a whole length and breadth of skills out there and that is essential for the existence of mankind.

A personal feedback here would be to stop deviating into the vastness of the planet while typing a specific topic. I have this obsession for originality. I vouch for that and I enjoy the company of people who are original. I personally believe I am one, and I hate fake. See, I keep on deviating, and the reader would also keep on deviating from this webpage, which is perfectly fine by the way. I may not be the best writer out there, but here, I write what I want to write and nothing but that. I apologize in case you are disappointed. Brings us back to the topic at hand. Happiness.

What is your ultimate goal in life? Is it money? Is it power? Is it energy? Can't come up with more here. So what is it. Most people here may swing it towards money/power. Why do we need that? More money gives me more comfort, that makes me happy. Fair enough! What do you do in case you don't have enough money? Its not my problem man, you have to find ways to make it somehow. Smart people do. Okay. Maybe you are right, some people are able to make money and are happy by those abilities. But remember when I told you about the length and breadth of talents that God has showered upon us. What if your talent does not help you in making money? And yet you are interested only in money. Would that lead you to feel depressed all your life and stare at darkness? This should never happen right? How often are we able to overcome it? Our failures. I am posing this question not just to you but to me as well. It might not be money, it may be power, fame, anything.

Moving on with a mindset that only these quantifiable objects give you happiness is a wrong notion. Mostly in this rat race we are taught to compete. To compare and win. Is this how our competition should have evolved? The one thing which denies us happiness is comparison. I personally feel that comparison can make you feel depressed. Everyone is unique and success doesn't measure anything. It is your internal happiness and peace that matters. As long as you ensure it is available in plenty, let the rest go to the...wherever it wants to go. The reason I started writing this now is a simple post I saw. Go and google to check who is the happiest man in the world.

You will get answer: Matthieu Ricard

Why can't it have your name or mine? It definitely can. We should reach a point in our life where we feel that enough is enough and now happiness is all I need. Nothing matters, not your job or money or fame. Only your happiness.

You will get the answer: <Insert your name here>

Lets all train hard to be happy and satisfied individuals. Because the world would be a dark place without joy. Lets step out and enjoy our world. (Stopping due to lack of time. More to follow)

  1. Just visited my own blog and realized that I skipped 2 years in between. 2014 and 2015. This is my first post after 2013. Does this signify something? Or was it sheer laziness? I wonder. These thoughts never fail to amuse me.

    1. And also noticed the fact that the first post was in 2008. 6 years now. Time sure flies.

Its actually interesting and something that evokes the thought process. Though we have access to these puzzles in many ways, ie, via net, mob application, etc, I would prefer to have mine right from the back of the hindu newspaper along with its difficulty rating. Anything beyond a star rating of four implies ' do not attempt' for me. First and foremost because of the fact that the usual weekend mornings are not blessed with long hours of relaxation and enjoyment, and secondly because my patience gets exhausted at the mere thought of not finishing it, for what irks me most is the process of spending a lot of time and energy without obtaining any result. Thank God, it has never happened to me before (because I've never taken that pain of spending a lot of time and energy :P). Anyway emerging from drifting thoughts, let me focus on my mainstream topic now. It consists of 81 small boxes divided into 9 major boxes each containing 9 each[ 9*9=81, makes sence, na? :), in...

The blog post!

To start with, I think I should justify the heading, the title post, well, this is again one of those blog posts I'm putting in after a very very long time in which a lot of wonderful and not so wonderful things have happened in my life. Well thats why its called "The blog post!" One of the books I have been recently reading is Sidin Vadukut's Who let the dork out?. About the book and all, its quite funny and interesting and it was more interesting for me as was written by a malayali. Some words randomly thrown here and there did make some sense to me! The sad part is that well, in between I got lazy and still have around 50 pages towards the climax. This trait of my character that I identified is that I do not like to dive deep into anything. I might find something interesting and trust me, I dont even start with anything if I dont find it very interesting.I get the plot then I leave. Its too difficult to keep my interest pinned onto something. But these days ...
