Staring into oblivion

So, the other day I had the opportunity to appear for the WAT-PI sessions of IIT Bombay SJMSOM. For those of you wondering what WAT-PI is, it is the abbreviation for Written ability test and personal interview. It was the most wonderful interview I had this entire season and I attended close to ten this year. I have more to say on that but lets get to that in a separate post. SJMSOM - IIT Bombay B School I was done with the process by morning and was taking a walk through the campus as I had some free time. My flight was at 6:50 PM. It was a typical engineering college, in fact it is arguably the best engineering college in the country with an acceptance rate of less than 1%. I could never make it there for a B.Tech degree. Maybe MBA? Even the Master of Management program there is highly competitive with only the top 1.5% applicants getting calls for WAT-PI. I consider myself fortunate to have had that opportunity. So even I did my engineering from the best college in my state ...

Secret to Happiness

These days I am looking for a trigger, no, its not a gun. I am looking for a trigger to write. This blog needs to be revamped. Have I not been writing all this while? Well, I have been, though it was more towards the personal side. Hence, I did not really bother to publish it here. Did not think it was worth mentioning. Coming back to the trigger, I have been wanting to write in this blog and publish a post for the past few days. Right now, it is a post that I was going through. In fact, on a daily basis, given the fact that I am sitting in front of the computer close to 30-40% of my day, I ready a plethora of articles. But some strike a cord. Maybe I will take an effort to actually pen down my thoughts when I stumble upon something. After all, sharing is caring. A lot of things have changed in my personal and professional life over the past few years. In terms of the view of issues, dealing with them and so on. Not going to delve too much into this at this stage. The entrance into ...

How Flickr Did It Right

First of all, I would like to thank Chris Brogan for giving bloggers like me something to write about. Yes. In his blog he has given a list of 100 topics which he hopes that bloggers write about. In his blog he has clearly explained how some people approach him and ask about how he manages to get topics to blog about each day. He has explained how his situation is quite the opposite as for him, he has too much to write about. Not boring you anymore with my reporting. "He said, He hopes, He explained" Ok no more. So one of the topics I got from that list was: "How Flickr Did It Right" There were  a variety of topics to choose from but I chose this because I wanted to do some research before writing. Let me be honest here. At this moment when I start writing I have no clue what it is. Yes I do know its part of the popular new generation networking band wagon and that it has something to do with sharing. Maybe pics or reports or articles. I donno. In fact, I dou...

Telangana: Do or Don't

I write this just a few minutes after a discussion with my team at work. Well it was a heated as well as a humorous debate but I was just a silent spectator as mostly Andhra guys were speaking and for the record, we had people belonging to Seemandhra(Non Telangana) and Telangana side as well. My honest opinion in this issue is that a state should not be divided. I have not done a detailed research about this topic so far. Today I heard some claims that Telangana people have been deprived of many resources and opportunities for a long period of time. If that is the case then a lot more has to be understood by myself before I pass a statement on this issue. However my general stand that a state should not be divided remains firm. What is this issue all about? Why did it come up for discussion today? The basic reason is the fact that, today in all leading national newspapers, the headline is: To quote Times of India: " Protest continues; trains, airports, hospital services...

United Nations Orgins

Recently I was reading about the United Nations and it was then that I started wondering what lead to the formation of this great international organization. Though I have a high level idea, I felt the need to delve into the details and get a proper understanding. In addition to this I also felt like putting it on my blog. The basic idea is to write about a topic each day. Make it as long as possible during the day and conclude it by the end of the day whatever the amount of info gathered. Get Knowledge and Share knowledge. Live and let live. Blah! If you open the website www.un.org and check the about UN tab, you will find some basic details such as...or wait. How about a question? Who coined the name United Nations? Any clue? It was the late US president Franklin D Roosevelt and was first used in the Declaration by United Nations of 1 January, 1942. Now that's an easy date to remember right? All you need to keep in mind is the year 1942. And did you know that American b...

Another fine day

As the title suggests, you might be expecting a day with bright sunlight around, mild breeze brushing through your hair, trees swaying in delight and some things like that. Ok, I admit, I was never too good at things like these. Describing nature and all, reminds me of a book I had for class X named The Village by the Sea, written by Anita Desai if I remember right. Well more than the actual storyline what I remember is the fantastic description of nature, a bit boring at times, though it was an awesome book overall. So as I was saying, you might be expecting all this, but not quite the "scene" here, its raining, and heavily at that, cats and dogs or whatever you like to call it. But the mornings are ok, atleast the 20 minutes I take from home to office. The weather is pleasant and there is a huge gush of air towards the entrance of my office, which is quite refreshing. What are the drawbacks of not reviewing an article before publishing? Well quite a lot, grammar, spe...
